Collaboration: Aha! Finally, the Dagger

*before I say anything else, can I just say I hate my scanner? UGH!*

The lovely, talented Miss Forty-Fathoms and I have teamed up once more to capture the quintessential classic Tomb Raider moment (a moment that never really happened in the game, but every fan has probably imagined) when Lara finds the Dagger of Xian after much blood, sweat, and traveling the ends of the earth. Forty-Fathoms drew the beautiful Lara Croft, and I provided the colors, dragon pedestal, and tapestries.

Side note: This was an interesting coloring challenge. Normally I use orange or yellow light sources, but Sarah thought the purple gems of the Dagger's dragon eyes would be a great source of purple light. I can honestly say this is the first time I can recall using purple light. Its kind of funny how that ended up working, because I colored Lara first before anything else...I colored her so purple until she looked like she had hypothermia or something. But when I added the Violet + 80% Cool Grey to the background, it looked as if I used white light! I was very surprised! So, I went over the whole of Lara and the pedestal with Mulberry. That seemed to work pretty good.

And as always this looks so much better in person. My scanner doesn't seem to capture the color or texture quite right, and even when I edit the color balance in Gimp, it still doesn't look as rich or bright as in person. Stupid scanner.

Anyways, Miss Sarah I hope you like my coloring job...do you think I should try a digital version? A million thanks for letting me color your drawing again--its SOOOOOO FUUUUNNNNN!!!!!!!! Very relaxing!
